Temporary Protected Status Lawyer in Dallas
Individuals from a country that has been designated by the Secretary of Homeland Security for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) may be permitted to remain in the United States while it remains unsafe for them to return to their home countries. The Secretary may designate a country for TPS due to war, environmental crises like earthquakes or hurricanes, or other extraordinary and temporary conditions.
Applicants seeking TPS must demonstrate they are from a TPS-designated country. Additionally, they must show their continuous physical presence in the United States and that they have been continuously residing in the United States as of the date of designation. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires applicants to request TPS during a specific registration period. Applicants may continue to renew TPS status during specific re-registration periods so long as the home country maintains its TPS designation. While a country’s TPS designation may continue indefinitely, if the Secretary determines that it is safe for individuals to return to the country, TPS beneficiaries will need to look to other immigration solutions if they desire to remain in the United States.
What Are the Benefits of TPS?
While in temporary protected status, an individual is not removable from the United States and will not be detained because of his or her immigration status. TPS beneficiaries are authorized to work and may obtain a work permit. Additionally, they may be authorized to travel internationally.

After seeing many law firms in the Dallas area, this firm was the ONLY firm that gave me hope. I was able to adjust my status in record time. I want to especially thank lawyer Kathy Brady for working hard on my case. She was very patient and hard working. She was the only one that gave me hope when many other lawyers didn’t. "Thank you all!"
The attorneys and paralegals and their assistants at Akula Law in Dallas handled my immigration case for the US efficiently, with care and with attentive responses to questions. Katrina was our lawyer for the remaining few months of our case, originally started by Daniele. Also with Erika and Christie helping us, and despite COVID-19 I finally arrived in the US in June and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you all!
