E-2 Treaty Investor Visas Explained

August 15, 2026 · Akula & Associates, P.C.

The E-2 treaty investor visa allows nationals of countries with a qualifying treaty with the U.S. to enter the country to direct and develop a business they've made a substantial investment in.

There's no fixed minimum investment amount, but the investment must be substantial relative to the total cost of the business and sufficient to ensure its successful operation. The business also can't be marginal — it must generate more than minimal living income for the investor.

We help treaty investors structure their business plans and investment documentation to meet USCIS and consular officer expectations, and handle E-2 renewals as the business grows.
